OUR WEDDING

The Royal Wedding was today. I didn't watch a minute. The only thing I can say is Holy S**t how much would it cost to rent the Queen. Forget the band, caterer, or cake. I want a queen for my wedding. She's got a great arm!

My Dress!

So, I know you're not really supposed to let anyone know what your wedding dress is going to look like before the big day, but I just can't help myself- I'm so excited! I have narrowed it down to a few top choices. I went to art school- so I wanted to do something a little more artsy, creative and unique to reflect my personal style.
These (above) are my top 3 choices....I really like the one at the bottom with the huge hat, however, I'm waiting to hear back how much the "bridal hat attendants" charge per hour. They might bump it out of my price range.

I LOVE the creativity in this one- I have contacted the designer to see if he can do it in Ivory with an accentuated mermaid skirt, and perhaps a sweetheart neckline.

Watch out- I might be one of those brides that has a costume change (or 3). I was thinking this might be really great for after it gets dark. The only concern is that the large battery pack attached to your garter could get uncomfortable.

Name Changes

We want to use this blog as a manner for all those out there to learn a little bit more about us.   We realize that few people actually will read this and those who do are probably the folks that know us the best anyhow.  But, as Erin says, "We'll do whatever the hell we want!!!"

Names:   We each have 4:

Erin Nellie Mozee Gleeson  (there is a little accent on the last e in Mozee, but I can't figure out how to add it...)

Jonathan Isaac Bloch Prosnit (no accents)

* We also each have a handful of nicknames.  Those nicknames include:  Mr. Littlejeans, Earth, Jack, the Photographer, The Zamboni, EG, and Captain Two Step.

* We contemplated combining our names after we got married.  These were our options:

Git
Pon
Proson
Gleenit
Gleesnit (slightly different from the one above)
Bloon
Gloch

We determined that most of these names sounded like some sort of vicious sound a giraffe makes.  Therefore, we decided to each keep our names and not merge them.  We still believe our future family will be able to endure (though Jon is disappointed not to be able to name any future child Don Pon).

Sports at a Wedding....

We here at Searching for Erin Gleeson are very happy that the UCONN Huskies run deep into the NCAA tournament.   Truly a remarkable season for a team that had no business making the Final Four.   This brings us to a larger point ... Sports on Wedding Days:

I love my friends - I do  (and am now realizing they had no control of their wedding date.)  But I have attended weddings during the LCS playofs and the World Series, the NCAA Tournament, The Final Day of the Masters, the NBA finals and the Iditarod.  So, when planning our wedding and choosing a date, we had some tough choices to make.

I went to a wedding in Boston, when the Yankees lost the world series to the Marlins.  And, as a young child, drove through Buffalo coming back from a Bar-Mitzvah when Norwood missed the field goal and the Giants won the Superbowl.  (I was 11 and not driving but I was in the car... Buffalo in January is beautiful.... )

So how'd I do?   The answer is ... pretty good.  Not perfect, but pretty good.  We avoided any playoffs! We are a week before the start of football season!  We could be in the middle of the baseball pennant race, but will be pretty removed from the end of the season.   Where I missed is that the wedding falls during the middle of the US Open.   Andy Roddick already rsvp'd:  "with regrets -- here's to 40 years of Love."

For those who want -- and who wouldn't -- the A's have home games Sept 2 - 7th and the World Champs have home games the weeks surrounding the wedding.   If you are local, or making a week out of your trip to California, we are going to see the day game Giants v. Cubs on 8/31
